Endovenous thermal ablation creates a tiny point of entry in the skin that typically does not require a suture. A thin laser fiber is then inserted and positioned in the targeted vein. A small pulse of laser or radio wave energy is then emitted, heating the vein and causing it to close. The body then eventually removes the vein. This advancement in vascular medicine is a safer, less risky alternative than extensive vein stripping surgery and carries no downtime.

Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT)
During EVLT, a laser fiber is threaded along the course of the diseased vein and the fiber is pulled out slowly, resulting in closure of the vein. This is an outpatient procedure done with topical or local anesthesia, and takes about 45 minutes with minimal downtime. Immediately after the procedure, the patient can drive home, return to work, and resume a normal routine.
